Lancaster Boys Club Junior football team was born out of a regular Sunday afternoon kick around on Fairfield playing fields with some very enthusiastic kids and some parents who were reliving their childhood dreams.
These sessions became so popular that one of the parent's decided that there was enough potential and support to form a "proper" club; and it is thanks to Andrew Jones hard work and commitment that the club is in the position it is now.
The club is affiliated to Lancaster Boys Club, (Dallas Road, Lancaster), and during the winter months we make use of the Boys Club's facilities, including an all weather pitch, for the training sessions. The boys club also provides us with support in other areas, one important one being the purchase of the correct goal nets that we will need to fulfil our ambition of joining the Lancashire Junior 7-A-Side leagues.
The club was originally formed around "Year 3" children, however we have now expanded this to cover three age ranges: Under 10's, Under 9's and Under 8's. For the 2004/05 season we have entered two teams in the local Junior league, and we will be playing competitive matches most Sundays. For those not involved in the leauge action, they will be encouraged to develop their skills at the training sessions with regular friendlies against similar teams from other clubs. |
